Hailey Brown

College: Carnegie Mellon University

  • Hailey Brown played three years of varsity soccer and basketball, and was on the varsity track & field team for six years.
  • During her high school career she won an amazing 11 team & individual Section  V championships.
  • In the sport of soccer she was the number one marking back with the responsibility of shutting down the other teams best player.
  • She currently holds two school records in track and field, topping the record books for the 3200 meter relay and the steeplechase. During her career she qualified for sectionals in four events for six straight years.
  • After graduation she continued her running career, competing in cross country as well as track and field at Carnegie Mellon University.

Laura Sweeney

  • While playing high school soccer, she led the team on defense from her stopper position for 2 years.
  • A star on the track & field team for five years, she won an amazing 10 Section V championships during her career: two individual, five relay teams, and three team championships.
  • Her senior year she was chosen the team's MVP and received the Terry Norris Award. Her 4x8 relay team went on to finish fourth at the New York State meet. She was the anchor on the 1600 relay team which still holds the school record.
  • Chosen a captain her senior year in track, she will always be remembered as a person of high character and a role model for others to follow.
  • After high school, she competed for four years at Edinboro University in Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track. In Indoor Track, she made the All Conference Team in 2012.

Michael Berardi Michael Berardi

  • A member of the Class of 2012, Mike Berardi played varsity football for four years, basketball for two years, and competed in track & field for five years.
  • While playing three sports at WHS, he won two Section V championships: one in football in 2011 and one in track & field in 2012.
  • For three consecutive years he led the football team in all-purpose yards and was considered by many as one of the best players in school history. His senior year in football, he led the team to the school's only sectional championship by running for over 2,000 all-purpose yards and scoring 25 touchdowns.
  • In his football career he was selected All Livingston County three times, the Big 30 team two times, as well as the Section V Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-State in 2011.
  • After high school, Berardi was a four-year letter winner at Alfred University where he played defensive back. He was selected team Co-Captain his last two years, a true indication of the respect given him by his coaches and teammates. 

Allie Whitehouse

College: University of Alabama

  • She is recognized as an outstanding basketball player who provided a glimpse of what was to come early on. An 11-year-old Whitehouse won the New York State and Mid Atlantic Free Throw Shooting Championships. She went on to end her high school career with 1,216 points. She set the school record with 185 three-pointers, which upon graduation was eighth in all of Section V.
  • Whitehouse was chosen to the Section V, Class B All-Tournament Team three times. She was named the 2009 Section V, Class B MVP after winning sectionals. She was named a Spectator Great 8 First Team All-Star three times, as well as three selections to the Big 30 All-Star team.
  • She led by example and was chosen as team co-captain three times by her teammates. She went on to attend the University of Alabama.

Nick Anderson

College: San Diego City College

  • The crafty left-hander holds the career wins record for Wellsville baseball at 29, and the single-season wins record with 13. His 62 career pickoffs in baseball is the most in New York state history and currently ranks No. 1 in the nation among the 22 states that compile this record. Anderson’s 13 wins during his senior year ranks second in all of Section V.
  • In 2013, he was selected to the First Team All Greater Rochester baseball team, an honor that only five other Wellsville athletes have accomplished. His senior year, Anderson was chosen as the Player of the Year in the Big 30 and topped it off by making First Team All-State.  
  • He will go down as one of the greatest pitchers in Wellsville sports history, setting records that will stand for a long time. Anderson went on to attend San Diego City College and can currently be heard on alternative radio performing vocals for his band, The Wrecks.

Matt Insley

College: D'Youville College

  • Matt Insley played varsity soccer, basketball and baseball for three years each. During that time, he won an impressive five team MVP Awards.
  • A leader of young men and respected by all, he was chosen as a team captain in all three sports his senior year.
  • In soccer, he was given the task of shutting down the other teams best player from his defensive position.
  • In basketball, he scored 878 career points while leading the team in assists his last two years In the sectional finals his last three years, he averaged over 25 points a game.
  • During his baseball career, he had a batting average of .395 culminating with a monster senior year when he led the team in six offensive categories.
  • In college while playing basketball for three years at D'Youville, he made the academic All-AMCC team each year on his way to graduating from the Physician Assistant program. 

Brittany Mesler

College: Nova Southeastern University

  • She is recognized by many as one of the greatest female basketball players in school history.
  • Mesler ended her high school career with 1,421 points and 770 rebounds. Her senior year, she led all of Section V with a 22.7 points per game average. Her junior year she ranked No. 2 in Section V.
  • Mesler was chosen to five Section V, Class B All-Tournament teams and topped that off by making the prestigious All Greater Rochester First Team in 2012 and 2013. She was also chosen twice as the Spectator Great 8 Girls Player of the Year, and the Big 30 Player of the Year as a senior.
  • Upon graduation, she played Division II basketball at Nova South Eastern in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Brent W. Roberts

Military Service: U.S. Marine Corp

  • During his high school career he won an amazing 10 team and individual Section V championships, the most by any male athlete in school history.
  • His senior year, Roberts accomplished the trifecta in track by being chosen MVP at the Wellsville Spring Day, the Hornell Invitational and the Salamanca Great 8. In 2014, he never lost an event in the 100 meter, the 200 meter and 4x1 relay until he competed at the New York State Championships. Roberts received the prestigious Devin Snyder Memorial Track Award his senior year.
  • Roberts joined the US Marine Corps after graduating from Wellsville. While in the military he took first-place in the 100 meter and 200 meter events at the Camp Lejeune Track & Field Day.

Isabel Mariotti

Isabel Mariotti is an extraordinary athlete whose impact resonates with her athletic career. Her five-year commitment to varsity swimming and three years in track and field at Wellsville is a testament to her dedication to athletics. Isabel's prowess in swimming is evident through her dominance in the pool, earning recognition as an LCAA Swimming All-Star and clinching the 2015 LCAA Championship Outstanding Performer of the Meet and the 2017 Swimmer of the Year titles.

Her achievements extend beyond personal accolades, contributing significantly to relay records like the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, and 200 medley relay. Setting records in Allegany Limestone and Letchworth solidifies her legacy. At Niagara University, Isabel was an MAAC All-American freshman year.  Despite COVID-affected collegiate years at Niagara University, Isabel persevered.  In addition to her accomplishments, she had a remarkable work ethic and an unwavering dedication to her teammates, earning her a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Jordyn Pettit
Class of 2018

College:  Alfred State College

Jordyn Pettit exemplifies excellence across multiple sports.  A 2016 Section V Championship basketball team member, she secured a spot on the NYS All-State (5th) team.  She earned consecutive honors as a Section V Class B All-Star Tournament and Big 30 All-Star 2nd team and was invited to the Big 30 Senior all-star game.

Her athleticism was especially highlighted on the track and field team, where she showcased remarkable talent.  Notably, Pettit's pole vault prowess led her to clinch two individual Section V championships in 2017 and 2018. In her senior year, she set the school record in the pole vault at 10'9". She also performed at the NYSPHSAA Meet of Champions.  

She attended Alfred State University, where she competed in basketball and track and field.  She accumulated many accolades despite her career being disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  In 2019, she was the ECAC DIII Outdoor Pole Vault Champion and was selected for the AMCC Women’s Basketball All-Conference team (2nd).
