SPEAK OUT/ACT OUT- IN A NUTSHELL

Speak Out/Act Out is a two-part course which combines learning public speaking skills and techniques with dramas, one-acts, and other plays. In the first half of the course, students will learn how to be a better public speaker and will learn tips that will help them get over their fears of speaking in public in front of others. Students who may already have some experience in speaking out loud will hone their skills in this course.

In the second half of the course, students will read and view on film a variety of plays, dramas, one-acts and shorter scenes from the dramatic world. We’ll read and act out parts of the plays we will read and explore dramatic choices characters might make when performing the scenes.  When feasible, students will take a field trip to a professional theater venue in the Buffalo/Rochester area to watch a touring Broadway performance.
